Boys and Girls Club of AGSF
About This Project:
Street Culture has programmed and implemented Boys and Girls Clubs INC. (BGC OR B&G) programming since 2008. Boys and Girls Clubs provide programming to children 5-14 years of age, outside of regular school hours. The program has a recreational focus that provides youth with an opportunity to participate in free activities and establish personal engagement in meaningful social interactions.
During the school year we provide a weekly one-and-a-half-hour program visit at six (school and library) sites in the inner-city and core neighborhoods. We serve the youth, community School along with community Library. We offer a nutritional component in all of our programming, and encourage healthy choices around physical activity and nutrition. The after-school programs run from 3:30 p. m to 5:30, Tuesday to Friday from September to June.
In the holidays we host a vacation day camp for pupils and students, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Year-round we provide a Saturday morning cartoon breakfast at community Library. Team members/volunteers typically will help in planning or assisting in activities, as well as helping plan and deliver nutritious snacks. Our club mandate promotes that BGC with support from families, helpful adults & community partners, offer children and youth opportunities to develop skills acquire knowledge and identify values leading to become fulfilled individuals.
As front-line workers under this program we are responsible in working with the youth, other volunteers and staff to help effectively deliver this mandate.
